We decided to make some oatmeal honey and molassas, lavender, and mint soaps last night. All are made using melt and pour goats milk base and I can proudly say the soap made last night is all natural without any added coloring or fragrance. Oh wait...we did add a bit of honey almond fragrance to the oatmeal honey and molassas, but I can't honestly smell it....next time I think we will skip it.
None of the soaps are overpowering in scent...it's very subtle and I like that. I used the honey, molassas and oatmeal this morning in the shower and it was great. The oatmeal was ground fine enough that there weren't any big chunks, but it was still a bit exfoliating.
I haven't tried the lavender yet, but it smells divine. I think I'll be giving my boy a bar of this to use in his baths...it may sooth and calm the little devil.
Amy and I washed our hands with some of the mint soap that was left in the measuring cup. You can actually feel the coolness and almost tingling on your skin from the mint. I can't wait to try a bar of this in the shower one morning. Invigorating.
As you can see in the pictures, we used some of our molds and they turned out really well. I am going to be buying a larger pan mold today if I can find one on ebay, that way we can do hand cut slices which seems a bit more "homemade" and rustic to me.

letter to my boy
One of Bainy's questions of the day was "Give one bit of advice in general, something you would tell your daughter (even if you don't have one yet, or don't plan on having kids at all.)"
Well, I don't have a daughter, so I directed it to my son:
Don't be afraid of your emotions. Happiness, sadness, anger, elation, fear, jealousy...they can't nor should they be avoided. They are all part of life and while sometimes difficult, what would life be without emotion? An empty canvas. A book without words. But do not let your emotions control you...control your emotions. The strong can learn to feel them and retain fuction of their brains at the same time. Logic is important.
Respect and obey the law and authority, but don't let anyone, an individual or society in general, tell you what you can and can't dream, accomplish, or be. Don't be afraid to go against the grain or the norm. In doing that, people will apply labels to you. If there is anything I have learned in my life, it's don't let others define you. Only you have the inner knowledge of YOU. If any labels are applied to you, apply them yourself and don't be afraid when doesn't fit you anymore. Change is constant and people ever-evolving.
Most of all...be yourself. Whomever that is on any given day. And remember, I love you always.
